Appointment Cancellation Policy
to help us provide timely care to all patients:

Appointments cancelled within 2 hours of the scheduled time may incur a fee.
If you do not attend your appointment and have not notified us, a fee will apply.

Please cancel as early as possible via the patient portal or by calling reception, so we can offer your appointment time to another patient.

Are you feeling unwell?
Most viral illnesses do not require antibiotics and will improve on their own. However, please contact the Medical Centre for advice or an appointment if:

Your symptoms are getting worse rather than gradually improving.
You have been unwell for more than 7–10 days without improvement.
Your fever is persistent, very high, or returns after initially settling.
You develop shortness of breath, wheezing or difficulty breathing.
You have chest pain, particularly when breathing or coughing.
Your cough is becoming significantly worse or you are coughing up blood.
You are unable to keep fluids down, are passing much less urine than usual, or have other signs of dehydration.
You have persistent vomiting or diarrhoea.
You develop significant ear pain, sinus/facial pain or a severe sore throat.
You initially started to recover but then become significantly unwell again.
You have a long-term medical condition such as asthma, COPD, heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease and your usual symptoms are worsening.
You are pregnant, immunocompromised, elderly or otherwise at increased risk of complications.
You are concerned about a baby or young child, particularly if they are feeding poorly, have fewer wet nappies, are unusually sleepy or their breathing has changed.
You are worried about your symptoms or feel that something isn't right.

If you are attending the Medical Centre with cough, fever, sore throat, runny nose or other respiratory symptoms, please let our reception team know when booking. We may ask you to wear a mask or wait in a designated area to help protect other patients, particularly babies, older people and people with weakened immune systems.

Call 111 or seek urgent medical help if you or the person you are caring for has severe difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, blue or grey lips or skin, new confusion, is difficult to wake, collapses, has a seizure, or is rapidly becoming very unwell.

Breast Screening
has been extended from 69-74 years of age. Women born before 1955 are eligible for 1 more screening when they turn 74yrs, women who have not received an invitation from breast screening. Can be referred or can call or book on line through Breast screening directly.

Cervical Screening
Have we sent you a reminder that you are due for your smear? Please phone reception and book your appointment with the nurse today. The self-test has been a game-changer, with over 80% choosing this option. National screening coverage has risen to 74% (up from 70% last year).

Common infectious illnesses

There are many common illnesses that our tamariki can easily catch at school and in the community. Please see this Infectious Illness Poster, which explains symptoms and how long children should stay at home until they are well again.

Fees Increase

Our fees have increased from 05.01.2026.

Flu Vaccines

Are FREE for 65+, pregnant people & under 65 with specific conditions including mental health. Speak to a nurse to see if you are eligible. There is a fee for those who are not eligible for a funded vaccine.

FUNDED Meningococcal Vaccines
Are now available for people aged 13 to 25 years who are entering, or in specified close-living situations now available.

As you may have heard, Manage My Health has reported a cyber security incident that occurred over the New Year period. Our patient portal is MyIndici 2.0 NOT Manage My Health

It's a good idea to regularly review your online passwords and security settings.

Update any old or reused passwords
Use strong, unique passwords
Turn on two-factor authentication where possible
Be alert to suspicious emails or links.

Measles (MMR) Update
Those born between 1969-2004 please check if you are fully immunised. If you do not have proof, you can phone the Vaccination Helpline 0800 28 29 26 (please let us know your status)
Age group needs

Mid-50s and 60s: People aged in their mid-50s and in their 60s are very unlikely to need a vaccine, but it can be considered if necessary, e.g. travelling to high-risk countries
Childhood: Two scheduled MMR doses should be given at 12 months and 15 months of age. Children who have not received two documented doses can be offered catch-up doses, given at least 4 weeks apart.

SHINGRIX (Shingles) Vaccine

This is free for all 65 year olds. Book an appointment to see the nurse. If you’re 50 years or older, the risk of getting this painful, blistering rash is very real — no matter how healthy you may feel. Vaccination is the only way to help protect yourself from shingles.

Syphilis Awareness

Syphilis cases are increasing across Aotearoa New Zealand, and we are also seeing a rise in congenital syphilis, which is preventable through early detection and treatment. Ideally, syphilis should be detected and treated before pregnancy occurs. Around 50% of syphilis cases are asymptomatic in the early stages. When symptoms do occur, they can vary widely.
